- Small class sizes – committed not to exceed 16 students. overall rigorous academic experience will allow each child to succeed.
- Focus on critical thinking – No matter what the scenario – academic, social, emotional – a student should have the skills that drive them to a solution.
- Teachers – The middle school years is the age where students often rebel and need strong educational role models to help guide them. Pacific Chamber Orchestra, now in its 34th season, is a regional professional ensemble dedicated to sustaining and extending the rich heritage of classical music for a chamber orchestra of 8 to 42 musicians through inspiring performances and engaging educational programs. For classical music enthusiasts, Pacific Chamber Orchestra (PCO) is a premier professional ensemble in the East Bay Area that provides an exquisite concert experience due to the artistry of the conductor and musicians, the engaging repertoire, versatility of the chamber orchestra, and accessibility to intimate and conveniently located venues.
PCO’s season consists of four themed programs presented to audiences in two East Bay locations, namely Livermore’s Bankhead Theater and St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Orinda. In addition, PCO offers educational outreach programs, including elementary in-school quintet assemblies to teach basic music fundamentals, strings clinics for middle and high school students, and full orchestra school day matinée performances. The “Discover Music” program serves over 6,000 elementary students in four school districts – Livermore, Pleasanton, Hayward and Orinda – with a focus on prioritizing underserved, low-income and culturally diverse schools.
Finally, in keeping with a deep commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, PCO created and launched an innovative reading workshop for a selected group of six emerging composers of new works called “Dream American.” The main thrust of this unique program was to encourage new work submissions that represent an aspect of the multitude of cultural heritages and diverse backgrounds that constitute our American tapestry.
